Scott's Biography
Scott Eastman is a commercial and fine art photographer and instructor based in Sibiu, Romania, in Transylvania. He earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree in photography from Washington University in St. Louis in 1994, where he was also an instructor of photography. He also received a bachelors degree in fine art and English literature from Willamette University in Oregon in 1991. He was the official photographer for the European Capital of Culture in Sibiu, Romania in 2007, and coordinator and official photographer for the Sibiu International Theater Festival. His work is available through this website, as well as www.gettyimages.com and www.danitadelimont.com stock agencies. His photos have been published and exhibited in Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia and are represented in museums and private collections in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. “My goal is to always find a balance between technical proficiency, artistic creativity and an understanding and connection with my subject, so that I can create powerful and moving photographs.”
Scott enjoys traveling in other cultures, spending enough time to get off the main path and establish friendships with the people he meets on his journeys. “Listening and absorbing what people have to say and share helps to make more compelling photos and often leads to explorations that I would never find on my own." Teaching and sharing both his photographic knowledge and cultural experiences is a joy for Scott that provides constant inspiration and a fresh perspective.
